Participation of the Egypt Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center in Cairo International Technology Exhibition

The Egypt Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center (EEIC) participated on Monday, November 20, in the Cairo ICT exhibition held at the fairgrounds from November 19 to 22, with two panel discussions moderated by Dr. Heba Medhat Zaki, Initial Manager, entitled “Entrepreneurship in Egypt: Towards a more cohesive business ecosystem” The session included the Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Innovation Prof Hossam Osman, the Head of the Central Department for Entrepreneurship at the Investment Authority Mr. Hossam Abdel Qader, and the Head of the Entrepreneurship and Services Team Mina Fakhry, Non-Financial Central Bank of Egypt, Eng. Ahmed Saleh, Director of the Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness, and Deputy Director of the Nile Pioneers Initiative at Nile University, Mr. Maged Harbi, General Manager  of EduVentures, Eng. Fadi Ibrahim, Co-Founder and CEO of Kruissa, one of the companies operating in the agricultural technology sector.

This session covered the most important challenges facing the ecosystem in Egypt and making it a less cohesive system, which poses many obstacles for entrepreneurs and startups and the most important recommendations that must be worked on in the future to create an ecosystem characterized by a degree of coordination and cohesion that supports the capabilities of youth and startups in Egypt.

The second session covered a presentation of the most important initiatives that take place under the umbrella of the National Institute of Governance, focusing on the digital transformation.  The session featured Dr. Hussein Abaza, consultant, and international expert in the field of sustainable development and green economy, and Eng. Mohamed Abdel Azim, the director of Spatial Information Infrastructure Projects at the Ministry of Planning. The workshop covered many innovative initiatives considered by the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, the training sector of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, such as the “Be an ambassador” initiative, the Governance Ambassadors Initiative, the births and deaths system project, which is carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, which is based on instant registration of all births and deaths in Egypt. Which in turn helped to provide an updated database linked to the banking system, the pension system, and the solidarity system, thus saving state resources.
